What is Chiropractic? Chiropractic is the largest, drugless healing profession in the world. We specialize in locating and correcting misalignments of the spine( subluxations) that result in nerve pressure along the vertebral column. The vertebral column encases the nervous system, and therefore it is very important to relieve any nerve interference. Nerve interference can irritate nerve roots and give you pain, but also these same nerves supply impulses to muscles, tendons, tissues and organs. This is the way the brain communicates to all parts of your body.

After graduating college, one must complete four more years of chiropractic college. Studies include courses in anatomy, physiology, neurology, neuroanatomy, pathology, diagnosis, pediatrics, x-ray physics etc. Along with all these science courses, our education branches in the study of the dynamics of the spine and "adjustment" of the subluxation. National and state board exams must be successfully completed before licensure.

What to expect on your first visit. after reviewing your history, we examine you for any biomechanical changes of your spine. X-rays are an important part of my analysis, and if necessary, I will take a limited amount of x-rays at my office. Chiropractic spinal adjustments are safe, gentle and highly effective. People of all ages, from infants to senior citizens can receive chiropractic care to stay healthy. Of course, the adjustment of your spine is tailored to you, so not all adjustments are the same.

Chiropractors are independent Doctors recognized in all 50 states. Visits are usually covered by most major medical insurance companies, managed care plans, Medicare, auto insurance, and workman's compensation. Please call my staff and they will qualify your insurance over the phone.

What can chiropractic help? Beside helping people with back pain, neck pain, headaches, hip pain, sciatica, arm and legs pain, many people realize that it helps many other aliments. Because we specialize in the nervous system, many people experience a more improved immune system, more energy, and a general healthier way of life. Remember we try to have you live a less drug dependent life. Since no drugs are involved many obstetricians refer their pregnant women for care.

Since the spine connects the brain with the rest of the body, maintaining a healthy and well-aligned spine is extremely important and is the often overlooked key to staying healthy.

Once I start, do I have to go forever? Certainly, you are always at choice for the type of care you wish to receive. Some patients just want pain relief. However, since the nervous system is so important in keeping healthy, we suggest a once a month maintenance adjustment to make sure the spine has no nerve impingement. But, again the choice is yours.

Is Chiropractic care expensive? Chiropractic care is very affordable. My office participates in Aetna Healthcare, United Healthcare, some Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans. Many insurance plans allow you to go outside your network, where your visits might be covered even though we don't actively participate in the plan. Feel free to call my staff and they will help you with your coverage.
